Getting a card at the LIB...
The most basic thing about using the LIB is getting a library card. I know, I know... more plastic to keep up with, but hey, IT'S FREE so what have you really got to lose? If you want to check out books and movies, use our data bases from home or use the computers at the LIB you have to have one. I'll go over the FAQs for you (that's Frequently Asked Questions for those 2 people out there that haven't heard it before...)How do I get a card? Cards are free to Florence County residents so just bring in a picture ID, driver's license or school ID. We have to be able to prove that you live in Florence County so we need something with your address on it. Oh yeah... you need to be at least 14 to get your card.
I'm 13 (or younger). Can I get a card? Of course you can, but your parent or guardian will have to come in with you and sign for the card. They need to bring their ID and a copy of your birth certificate.
I lost my card... what now? Oooops! that happens.. a lot. Well, hate to tell you, but replacement cards cost $$$$$. Just kidding, it's only $5.00 for a replacement card. One of my girls will be glad to give you a shiny, new card. Just try to keep up with this one, okay?
I think I had a card when I was younger...I can't remember. Parents are so sweet... they get you a library card when you're a kid, keep it in their wallet so it doesn't get lost and then forget to give it to you when you're old enough to keep it yourself. Guess what? You have to get a new one and it's considered a replacement card so you have to pay the $5.00 fee. Thanks mom!
I don't live in Florence county... can I get a card? Most definitely... we love for people from other counties to use our library. There is a $15.00 annual fee for this... sorry. You could always move here and get a free card. It's a small price to pay for all that you get in return though so give it some thought. Less than $1.25 a month actually... you waste that much a day on 20 oz drinks and all you get from those are cavities.
I have a card to another library in Florence county. Can I use that one? The library card you use at the BIG library in Florence is the same one that you use at any library in Florence County... we have branch libraries all over the county. Feel free to visit any one of them. They are located in Timmonsville, Olanta, Johnsonville, Lake City, Florence (you know the one... you can't miss it) and of course here in Pamplico, my home and personal favorite.
Well... that about covers it. Questions? Just ask. Til next time.

Welcome to My World... Pamplico Library
...or as I call it The LIB. You might be asking yourself "What can this mink tell me about the library????" Well, there is more to me than charm and good looks. I have lived at the library for my whole life... well, kind of. Anyway, I've been around for years. When we moved into the new library everybody was given new jobs and my new gig is PR (Publicity Rodent) or as I like to call myself the Library Mascot. Since I know more about the library than anyone else who could have been a better fit? On this page you'll be given all the tips and tricks you need to get the most out of the library. I'm gonna tell you about each section of the library, what all you can do at the library and maybe some gossip about the staff (shhh.. don't tell my girls). I'll keep you up to date about new books and DVDs as we get them in, cool websites for research and homework and just plain surfing and lots of other things. Every week there will be something new so you need to add me to your favorites list now. Oh yea... feel free to leave your comments, questions and suggestions. All you need to do is click on the link to post a comment and let me know what's on your mind.
